Reza Serkanian réalise des courts-métrages à partir de l’âge de 17 ans et obtient une reconnaissance internationale. Après des études de cinéma en Iran et à l’Académie des Beaux-Arts d’Amsterdam (Rijksakademie), il s’installe en France en 1998. Parallèlement à la réalisation, il mène une carrière de chef-monteur et de chef-opérateur. Il est également producteur associé au sein de la société de production cinématographique Overlap Films. Son premier long-métrage, Noces éphémères, a fait l’ouverture de la sélection ACID au festival de Cannes 2011. Le film est sorti en France la même année.
Son nouveau film, un long-métrage de documentaire intitulé « Passeurs » qui s’intéresse à la vie de jeunes migrants non accompagnés en France, sortira en 2019.
Reza Serkanian anime des ateliers de réalisation et d’écriture (Maroc, Slovenie, Iran, Gabon…). Il a été membre de plusieurs jurys de festivals dont celui du Festival International du court-métrage de Clermont-Ferrand.
Born in Iran, Reza Serkanian started making short films at the age of 17 and obtained an international recognition. After studying cinema in Tehran and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam (Rijksakademie), he settled down in France in 1998. He has developed in parallel a career as film editor and director of photography. He is also associate producer at the film production company Overlap Films. His first feature, Ephemeral Weddings, was presented at the opening of the ACID selection of Cannes Film Festival 2011, and was released in France the same year.
His new film, a feature-length documentary titled « Playmakers » about the lives of young unaccompanied migrants in France, will be released in 2019.
Reza Serkanian runs filmmaking and writing workshops (Morocco, Slovenia, Iran, Gabon …). He has been member of several festival juries namely the International Short Film Festival of Clermont-Ferrand.

1966年イラン出身の映画監督。17歳から短編を撮影し、国際的な認知を得る。祖国とアムステルダムのオランダ国立芸術アカデミー（ライクス・アカデミー）で映画を学んだ後、1998年にフランスへ移住。監督業と並行し、チーフエディターおよびカメラマンとしても活躍し、映画制作会社オーバーラップ・フィルムズの共同経営者、プロデューサーでもある。初長編の『Noces éphémères（原題）』は2011年のカンヌ国際映画祭ACID部門のオープニング作品として上映され、同年フランスで劇場公開された。最新作の長編『Passeurs（原題）』はフランスで保護者のいない未成年移民たちの生活を追ったドキュメンタリーで、2019年公開予定。
Im Iran geboren, beginnt Reza Serkanian mit 17 Jahren seine ersten Kurzfilme zu verwirklichen, mit denen er bald internationale Bekanntheit erlangt. Nach seinem Filmstudium in Teheran und an der Kunstakademie Amsterdam geht er 1998 nach Paris, wo er seitdem lebt. Sein erster Langspielfilm « Noces éphémères » (Ephemeral Weddings) feiert seine Premiere 2011 auf dem Cannes Filmfestival und kommt im selben Jahr in die Kinos. Parallel dazu ist er in vielen Filmprojekten als Kameramann oder Editor beteiligt.
